Why Italians make good coffee

ITALIANS LOVE THEIR COFFEE

Italians really do and have so ever since the coffee bean first arrived at the ports in Venezia, brought from Islam in the sixteenth century. Italians typically have it first thing in the morning (predictably either espresso or cappuccino), after lunch, then maybe a quick shot to get them through the day, then a post-dinner one before taking their “passeggiata,” or stroll through the centre of the city.
Regardless of the occasion, it is a significant part of Italian tradition that coffee is done right. It’s almost like an art, and the perfect espresso has to be rich, creamy and perfectly balanced.
And what about those gorgeous espresso machines you see in fine coffee shops all over Italy?  We import them specially for South Africans – all the way from Italy itself. You can thank us later 🙂 To check out our phenomenal range of Italian coffee machines – visit emozione.co.za

Modern companies often consist of figures, board members and repetitive deadlines.  That is why historic companies like Loison are so much more than just a company – and therefore craft products that are so much more than just products.   We are very excited to announce that Emozione is now selling Loison items that will be the perfect accompaniment to our Italian coffee machines and ESE pods.

The company is birthed in a rich history, having been located in Costabissara in Vicenza since 1938 and founded by three generations of pastry makers. This explains how they certainly do know the secret to our lips!

“Simple origins, genuine products, bread baked in wooden ovens, the traditional sweets of Veneto. From here starts the history of the Loison family, who started out their business near the end of the 30s and Tranquillo, the grandfather, was the first to fall in love with the art of break making and later passed it on to his son, Alexander. Together they transformed the bakery into a real and proper family business, inaugurating a new shop in 1969. The company, now lead by Dario, Tranquillo’s nephew, takes on an international dimension from 1992 onwards.”

The company is now headed by the infamous Dario Loison and Sonia Pilla, who represent the third generation of Loison. Dario is the “entrepreneurial genius” behind the brand and is passionate that tradition and innovation are key to the success of his company. Sonia is the “romantic and wistful soul” who created the iconic and beautiful look of the brand.

Together they make a powerful team – the combination of exceptional quality, tradition and style make Loison an icon for fine Italian food.

Sicily – Silly Coffee Spenders?

Carrying on from our History of Italian coffee series, today’s post comes from Sicily.

How much money do you spend on coffee a day? Image

According to an interesting article by the Italy Chronicles, The Sicilian parliament spends around €800,000 a year on coffee.

Sicilian parliamentarians claim an average of 27 coffees on expenses a day.

Sicily is rumoured to be one of the worst run regions and Italy – perhaps it is as a result of many Politian’s’ caffeine overdose?

Have a good week
